EatFast – On-Demand Delivery Ecosystem

When delivery delays hit 45+ minutes and customers are choosing competitors, you don't need a better app β€” you need a better algorithm. SoftGen built an AI-powered dispatch system that cut transit times by 25% and made real-time tracking actually real-time.

Executive Overview

β€œEatFast was bleeding customers to PickMe Food and Uber Eats β€” not because their restaurant partners were worse, but because their technology was. Manual driver allocation meant the nearest rider wasn't always assigned, routes weren't optimized, and 'real-time tracking' was actually a 30-second delayed approximation. SoftGen rebuilt the entire logistics backbone to compete with billion-dollar platforms on a startup budget.”

Problem β†’ Solution

How we identified the core bottleneck and engineered a precision solution.

The Challenge

What the client was struggling with

Three interrelated problems were destroying the business: (1) Manual driver dispatch meant orders were assigned based on who was 'next in line,' not who was geographically closest β€” adding 8-15 minutes of unnecessary transit time. (2) Delivery tracking updated every 30 seconds, which in a fast-moving urban environment meant the rider's position was often 500m+ outdated. (3) Kitchen-to-rider handoff was uncoordinated β€” riders arrived before food was ready or food sat cooling while riders were en route from distant locations.

Our Solution

How SoftGen solved it

SoftGen implemented a three-pronged solution: (1) A geospatial dispatch algorithm using Google Maps Distance Matrix API that calculates actual road distance (not straight-line) to assign the nearest available rider. (2) Firebase Firestore real-time listeners providing sub-second GPS updates to all three stakeholders simultaneously. (3) A kitchen readiness signaling system where restaurants mark orders as 'Plating' when 80% complete, triggering rider dispatch so both arrive at the same moment.

Core Architecture & Features

The foundational systems engineered to solve complex domain problems.

Geospatial Smart Dispatch

Distance Matrix-powered allocation that considers actual road networks, traffic conditions, and rider availability to assign the optimal delivery agent β€” not just the nearest one on a map, but the fastest one on actual roads.

Three-Way Real-Time Sync

Firebase Firestore listeners provide sub-second updates across customers, restaurants, and riders simultaneously. When a rider turns a corner, the customer sees it within 800ms β€” making tracking genuinely real-time, not a delayed approximation.

Measurable Impact

Business Impact

Measurable metrics and operational improvements achieved post-deployment.

25% Reduction in average delivery transit times β€” from 38 minutes to under 28 minutes

Sub-second GPS tracking accuracy β€” customer map updates within 800ms of rider movement

Kitchen-to-rider sync reduced food waiting time from 12 minutes average to under 2 minutes

β€œThe automated dispatch logic SoftGen built completely solved our logistics bottleneck. Our delivery times dropped drastically.”
